Pouch Ranger

Where do I want most of the weight inside my Army rucksack?
I have been under the impression while loading my Army ruck that I should try and keep as much weight as possible close to my body and toward the middle/top of the ruck.
What I do to keep the weight off the bottom is use my boots or elbow/knee pads (depending on the packing list) to keep the larger portion of my equipment elevated off the bottom of the ruck. I have also been competing in some ROTC Ranger Challenge competitions and the packing list is so small that I can usually fit almost everything in the outside of the ruck and inside the radio pouch. I then am able to clench the ruck as tight as possible and have almost all the weight mid back and higher.
I'm in a competition very soon and have run out of time to try different weight configurations so I would like some "verbal" input.
Thanks!
You want it high on your back and not on your lower back. Weight distribution is important.
Do what works for you.
